Riipen is a technology platform that facilitates micro-experiential learning opportunities. Riipen makes it possible to embed real-world industry projects directly into course curriculum, so students are exposed to hands-on learning throughout their education. Additional functionality allows students to self-enrol in open challenges and experiences to further increase the number of opportunities available to them.

Riipen will soon be available to all Seneca students and faculty through funding provided by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development’s (MAESD) Career Ready Initiative. The goal of this funding is to support post-secondary institutions to increase their capacity to provide experiential learning opportunities to all students. Riipen has the capability to connect students with both domestic and international industry partners, thereby allowing them to develop more diverse experiences and networks.

Often, the most difficult challenge for a student seeking employment upon graduation is having valuable, relevant work experience. Students will have the opportunity to not only practice what they are being taught, but build complementary skills like project management and professional communication in the process.

Riipen is active on nearly 150 campuses across North America with close to 500 educators successfully using the platform to connect their students with real work experience. For information on how Riipen can be used, please browse the Riipen assignments library at riipen.io/assignments or click the projects below:

Information sessions and demonstrations are planned for the end of January 2018.

In the meantime, please contact Jennifer Graham at Jennifer.Graham@senecacollege.ca for further information.
