by Adele Georgievski, Seneca Libraries, and Jo Ann Iantosca, School of Early Childhood Education

in the June 2021 issue

Faculty from the Bachelor of Child Development (BCD) program and Seneca Libraries are collaborating to create the Knowledge Mobilization Hub (KMH). The KMH will be a highly visual, publicly accessible repository showcasing student capstone work as well as other special projects, such as collaborations with faculty. Items included will be undergraduate theses, videos, infographics, podcasts, and more.

This collaboration will serve current Seneca students in its ability to provide a resource for published material ready to be showcased on resumes, ePortfolios, and LinkedIn profiles. The KMH will also serve future Seneca students and a wider community of scholars by sharing research and knowledge that students can stack and build upon to advance their scholarly conversations. Rather than student work being siloed and inaccessible, the aim for the KMH is to ensure that others benefit from the research findings, whether it be from conclusions drawn that can positively impact the field, or that the findings inspire the research of future Seneca students. Finally, this will be a core location for public engagement with the student authors and applied research collaboration by community agencies. The repository will be widely accessible as a means to promote the open access sharing of knowledge.

The KMH will go live January 2022, at which point other Seneca programs are invited to participate.
