in the September 2018 issue

One of the toughest challenges for many new graduates is having relevant work experience to draw upon. To help bridge this gap, Seneca Career Development is now taking a greater role in the administration of the college’s Riipen initiative, a technology platform facilitating micro experiential learning opportunities by connecting students with industry partners.

As an instructor using Riipen, you will be given tools to tie real work experience into your course curriculum. A screen capture of the Riipen portal in My.Seneca on the Employees tabBy creating an in-class assignment, your students will have the opportunity to not only practice what they are being taught, but build usable skills like project management and professional communication in the process.

Review industry project proposals, track real-time progress of your students, and evaluate the success of your in-class assignments in one place. Visit Seneca’s Riipen portal to learn more or contact Susan Thomas at susan.thomas@senecacollege.ca.

To ensure our grads are interview ready, Career Development runs the Interview Clothing Boutique every Tuesday and Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. Interview Clothing DriveStudents can select 2 items free of charge and now have the support of an on-staff stylist to help them achieve a polished and professional look. Drop by room D2000 at Newnham Campus to find out more. Donations of professional clothing are welcome year round at the Career Development office at each campus.
