National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a day to recognize and reflect on Canada’s Indigenous history and a path forward to reconciliation. Reconciliation happens together with Indigenous peoples. There is much work to be done and it will require every one of us to become more informed and to take action. Today is a great place to start and there will be many more opportunities to come.

September 30 is also Orange Shirt Day, a day to acknowledge the legacy of residential schools and honour the Indigenous children who were sent to them across Canada. Under the banner of Every Child Matters, Seneca is encouraging all students and employees to wear an orange shirt on this day and to learn more about the history of Orange Shirt Day through Phyllis (Jack) Webstad's story in her own words. Supporting Orange Shirt Day is an affirmation of our commitment to ensure that Indigenous children are cared for and remembered.
