Description

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

The 16 Days is an international campaign that brings together global partners in pursuit of eliminating the disproportionate violence faced by women, girls and 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals. Each year, it runs from Nov. 25 (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to Dec. 10 (World Human Rights Day). The campaign also includes Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women on Dec. 6.

Seneca’s participation in this initiative aligns with its commitment to reducing sexual violence and gender-based violence in the Seneca community and creating safe spaces.

2021 marked the 30th anniversary of the Global 16 Days Campaign. This year’s campaign will focus on the issue of femicide or the gender-related killing of women. Join the conversation and become part of the solution towards ending gender-based violence. There are many ways to get involved — attend virtual events and workshops, engage in meaningful dialogue with members of the Seneca community or make a donation to support student bursaries.
