Welcome

Program advisory committees (PACs) are essential to Seneca Polytechnic’s mission to deliver a great education and prepare graduates for great careers.

We are grateful to those who serve on our PACs, who give of their time and expertise, who hire and mentor our students and graduates, and who provide invaluable insights that inform our curricula.

We are pleased to offer this comprehensive guide to support PACs at Seneca Polytechnic. It includes the best practices, procedures and resources for administering PACs successfully and ensuring compliance with Seneca’s PAC policy and terms of reference.

The information provided here is intended for all Seneca employees who work with PACs and for PAC members.

Resources available will be refreshed as needed and suggestions are welcome. Email the Academic Quality team with your feedback or any questions.

Background

The Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities’ policy directive, Framework for Programs of Instruction, requires that postsecondary programs leading to a ministry-approved credential be guided by a PAC.

PACs may be established for an individual program or a cluster of related programs and report to the Board of Governors through Seneca’s Vice-President Academic & Students (VPAS).

PACs are accountable to three governing bodies: the Ministry of Colleges and Universities, Seneca’s Board of Governors, and the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board.
