The Faculty Development Program (FDP) is designed to help faculty develop and/or demonstrate teaching-related practices in a flexible and practical way. It consists of three bundles of courses.

The first bundle contains Foundations of Teaching and Learning, "Fundamentals of Flexible Course Design and Delivery," and "Flexible Teaching Practice Sessions."

"Foundations of Teaching and Learning" is the pre-requisite for "Technology-Enhanced Learning" and "Inclusive Teaching and Scholarly Practice."

The first bundle of courses will not run in May/June 2024.

The second bundle contains Technology-Enhanced Learning, "Developing an Online Assessment Strategy," and either "Alternative Online Assessments" or "Authentic Assessments."

"Developing an Online Assessment Strategy" is the pre-requisite for "Alternative Online Assessments," "Authentic Assessment," and "Feedback and Evaluation."

The second bundle of courses will run in May/June 2024.

The third bundle contains Inclusive Teaching and Scholarly Practice and "Feedback and Evaluation."

The third bundle of courses will run in May/June 2024. The specific details for each faculty member who needs the third bundle was emailed to their Chair on Jan. 23, 2024.

Note: due to the pre-requisites, the bundles of courses must be taken and completed in the order stated above.

"Foundations of Teaching and Learning," "Technology-Enhanced Learning," and "Inclusive Teaching and Scholarly Practice" each require approximately 36 hours of classroom and/or blended-mode participation. Faculty complete a portfolio with elements related to course design, classroom practices, and assessment of student learning. The Faculty Development Program is a mandatory requirement for all newly-hired full-time faculty members, although all faculty members and instructors are welcome to apply to register in MyPD.

Newly-hired full-time faculty members are also required to attend "New Faculty Orientation" and participate in either the "Teaching & Learning Summer Conference" or "Micro-teaching Sessions."
