by Sally Yeung, Seneca Applied Research & REB Co-ordinator

Applied Research offers unique experiential learning opportunity that immerses students in real-world problem solving, working directly with industry and community partners under faculty supervision. Faculty, provided course-load reduction (or additional contract hours for PT/PL faculty), have an opportunity to apply knowledge and experience to solving a research challenge, guiding and mentoring student researchers and ultimately bringing results and examples back to the classroom.

Are you interested in getting involved in applied research? Seneca Polytechnic’s Applied Research provides a broad range of services — funding proposal development, research project management, industry liaison (contracts and partnerships) and outcomes/metrics reporting — removing the administrative burden of research and allowing faculty the time to focus on planning and leading research projects with teams of students.

Join the Applied Research information session virtually on Tuesday, Feb. 27 from 10 to 11:15 a.m. to learn about Seneca’s three Centres for Innovation and funding opportunities available. Individuals will explain how applied research funding works, provide examples of past projects and how-to bring industry and community partners in to our Centres for Innovation.
