Murray Sinclair, the Truth and Reconciliation Chief Commissioner said in 2015 "Education got us into this mess and education will get us out".

The Seneca Community Indigenous Award was established in 2020 so members of the Seneca community could help support Indigenous students at Seneca and be part of the solution building towards reconciliation. This new award supports full-time Indigenous students who are involved in the Indigenous student community at Seneca.

The disturbing news out of Kamloops, and the words of the survivors of the Residential School have sparked an even stronger desire to stand in solidarity with the Indigenous community. Supporting the award is one way to show support and solidarity.

Seneca is a postsecondary education institution committed to equity, diversity and inclusion. Together, we are dedicated to ensuring our Indigenous students have access to the education and support that can help them achieve their dreams and build a better future for themselves, their families and their communities.

You can contribute to this new award by making a donation online.
