  1. Statement of Philosophy of Teaching

    A reflective statement on your thoughts about teaching including your teaching goals for the next few years.

    This form is completed by the Chair and included in the portfolio. Pre- and post-observation meetings are recommended as part of this component.

[A teaching portfolio] includes documents and materials which collectively suggest the scope and quality of a professor’s teaching performance…. The portfolio is not an exhaustive compilation of all of the documents and materials that bear on teaching performance. Instead, it presents selected information on teaching activities and solid evidence of their effectiveness. - (Seldin, 2004, p. 2)

  • Formative assessment
  • Summative assessment
  • Feedback on student work
  • Student work samples
  • Videos of your teaching
  • Description of instructional improvement projects developed or carried out
  • Design of interdisciplinary or collaborative courses
  • Teaching research projects, action research, or collaborative inquiries
  • Description of participation in professional learning
  • Publications and papers delivered on teaching
  • Curriculum revision or development
  • Preparation of instructional or assessment materials for courses
  • Podcasts
  • Examples of uses of technology in teaching
